Many have asked and so ye shall receive: If you have attended a conference where I served on the faculty, I will be accepting your unagented submissions until three months after the conference. See a date breakdown below.
When submitting to me, please follow the guidelines below. I would also appreciate it if you would take a moment to go through my Manuscript Wishlist as a refresher for what I’m looking for.
In the subject line, please include:
- The conference you attended where I was a faulty member
- The title of your submission
- Your name as it was when I met you (no pseudonyms, unless that is the name you went by at the conference)
- The type / genre of the submission you’re sending (MG Contemp, YA SFF, etc.)
It should look a little something like this: SCBWI Long Island: CHEERING FOR ME NOW by Amanda Ramirez – YA Contemp
In the body of your email, please:
- Paste your pitch / query letter
- Include any relevant contact info in your signature
Attached to the email should be the full manuscript.
Preferably as either a PDF or a Microsoft Word Doc: Times New Roman, 12pt font, double-spaced. Please include page numbers!
Your email should look similar to this bad boy:
SCBWI Long Island: Monday, April 22, 2019
2019 MD / DE / WV Regional Conference: Monday, July 1, 2019
27th Annual Pocono Mountain Retreat: Monday, July 15, 2019
2019 New England SCBWI Conference: Monday, August 5, 2019
CenCal SCBWI Writer’s Day: Monday, January 13, 2020
Wordsmith Conference: Monday, February 2, 2020
WHAT TO EXPECT
I will always respond to a query – a non-answer is not a no. It just means I haven’t gotten to it yet. But I will ALWAYS respond. All I ask is a little patience.
That being said, queries sent by anyone pretending to have met me at a conference / someone who I know for a fact I did not attend a conference with will be deleted and remain unanswered.
Please send all queries to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Feel free to come to me with any questions!
